Five family members were found dead inside an Oklahoma home, and two teens were arrested late Wednesday evening in what police are calling an "almost unprecedented" outbreak of violence in the Tulsa suburb. 

Authorities went to check out the residence after receiving a 911 hang-up call at 11:30 p.m., according to NBC News. Inside, they found five dead victims, as well as a 13-year-old child who was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Another 2-year-old child was found unharmed, the Associated Press reports. 

As police arrived, they spotted two teens, a 16-year-old and 18-year-old, running out the back door. A K-9 officer pursued them through the woods and they were successfully detained. 

"This is a relatively safe community, smaller than Tulsa and what you might call a bedroom community," Sgt. Thomas Cooper of the Broken Arrow Police Department told NBC News. 

"The crime scene has taken a pretty heavy toll on officers who have come out here," he added. "It hits close to home, especially when the victims are adults and juveniles. Our officers have a lot to take in." 

The victims and the two suspects were all part of the same family, police said. The teens have not been charged with any crime as of Thursday morning.
