help me B2 Visa Extension

Hi i have applied for B2 visa extension for my parents , I 94 expires on Aug 7th , 

Now the processing time for B2 VISA extention is 2 months , 

 

If the extension is denied , does that mean my parents will be out of status and will be overstaying , and WILL THEY HAVE TO APPLY FOR NEW VISA , does by overstaying we automatically loose the visa
