Gunmen in army uniform attacked a police station in Dinanagar town near Gurdaspur, Punjab, early on Monday morning, leaving one person dead.

Two others were injured in the attack.

The attackers, three to four in number, came in a white Maruti car and opened fire at the police station, killing the policeman on guard duty, according to TV reports.

The gunmen are holed up inside the police station. Exchange of fire is on and the police have cordoned off the area.

Senior police officials have reached the spot.

Details are awaited.
