Here's some good news for all the toddy lovers in Telangana. In a high-level meeting at the secretariat this afternoon, KCR said that the recently announced excise policy will come into effect from October. The TRS Chief also said that the government will serve 'pure toddy' in the government toddy shops that are set up across the state. KCR also instructed the excise officials to curtail the illicit liquor (gudumba) units in Hyderabad's Old City and across the state. KCR also suggested the concerned department officials to prevent the illegal liquor imports info Telangana from neighboring states and from AP in particular. In order to see the government toddy shops flourish, KCR took a decision to plant five crore palm trees by the banks of all the lakes in Telangana. The Chief Minister further stated that the government will set up is own distilleries and that all the popular brands' liquor will be manufactured in Telangana and that this will create employment opportunities for localites.
