New iPhone Leak Hurt Profits -- Says APPLE

iPhone 4G is the phone Apple plans to launch this summer. Apple has a good track record of keeping their new products under cover until they are ready to announce it. Unfortunately for Apple, the new iPhone was leaked by an employee and posted on a popular tech blog. A blog from Vietnam also somehow got hold and posted pictures of the iPhone 4G.
The iPhone 4G leak caused Apple to take legal action against popular tech blog Gizmodo. According to CNN Money, the court documents show that the Apple thinks the leak of this new iPhone has hurt Apple’s overall sales. That is a pretty strong statement to make. While I’m sure the leak had some effect on Apple’s sale, I doubt it had a really big effect. Apple may just be trying to get more attention and create more buzz for the iPhone 4G.
The iPhone 4G is due to be released or announced in June 2010. I think Apple should be happy that they got a lot of free press from their leaked iPhone prototypes. When the iPhone is announced during World Wide Developers Conference, and then released, I’m sure it will get a lot of sales, of which some percentage will be due to the leaked iPhone 4G.
