 Andhra Pradesh government has set a target to install 7,000 solar agricultural pump sets in the state during the current financial year to reduce the grid power consumption by farmers, a senior official has said.

The farmers will be provided solar pump sets at a subsidised cost, Kamalakar Babu, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP), told reporters here last evening.

The cost of a 5HP pump set is Rs 4.90 lakhs, out of which a farmer has to pay Rs 55,000 and the remaining cost would be borne jointly by the Union government and the Andhra Pradesh Power Distribution Company, he said.

Likewise, the cost of a 3HP pump set is Rs 3.20 lakhs for which farmers have to pay Rs 40,000 as their contribution, he said.

The scheme is being promoted by NREDCAP, AP Power Distribution Company, agriculture and allied departments to reduce the grid power consumption in the agricultural sector.

u both govt iscool batch...?

5HP is the power of Motor... it resembles how much water can the pump deliver form particular depth..

===========================

ex:

1 HP pump run avutunte...it will deliver around 18 Gallons of water per minute from a depth of 20 feet.

if the depth increases..the output rate of water decreases....

About 3,500 farmers from the newly formed States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will soon get solar pump sets for agriculture. The Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) water pumping systems for irrigation were granted by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy

Subsequently, the pump sets, 3,500 in number, have been distributed between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in the ratio of 58:42, on the basis of population.

The 5HP pump sets would cost about Rs. 5 lakh each, on which a 30 per cent subsidy will be granted by the Central government. A minimum of 15 per cent of the cost should be borne by the respective State governments as per norms.

The State government has decided to give top priority to installation of solar pump sets for agriculture by offering as much as 89 per cent subsidy. The government is giving a thrust to it to save power being generated by thermal power stations in the State.

The officials have claimed that the agriculture sector is one of the largest consumers. The solar powered pump set would help the State government utilise the power saved for other purposes, the officials explained.  The cost of 3 Hp pump is priced at Rs 3.20 lakh and the 5 Hp set Rs 4.90 lakh. The MNRE (Ministry of New and Renewable Energy), according to officials, will extend 33 per cent subsidy.

The Discom will provide another 56 per cent subsidy and the beneficiary will have to bear remaining 11 percent. Officials have said that farmers may submit their applications for buying solar pump set either to Discoms or Irrigation Department, besides Horticulture wing. The cultivators may also approach the ITDA in case of tribal areas.
