worstandhra Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 company london lo undi, company financial institution If its Investment Banking, the pay will be up to 60-90k GBP per annum + benefits. 60k kanna thakkuva nuvvu adigina vaallu ivvaru, given his experience!!! And assume its 65k in London, the Net Salary will be 3750 GBP per month. There are 2 scenarios now: 1. To stay in London Zones 3-7 and pay a rent of 1300-1500 GBP, plus 120 Council Tax + 120 Utility Bills (on an average because power bills vary drastically between winter and summer times), plus a commuting charges of 150GBP, Plus food for a family of 4 around 400-500GBP. Plus additional expenses like car, commuting, personal come to around 400 GBP. All in all, take out 2500 GBP, then the savings will be 1250 GBP which I think is comparable to 25Lakh salary in Bangalore 2. Stay in Outer London and rent will be 1000 GBP but commuting expenses will be between 450-500 GBP and all other costs remain the same as above.
worstandhra Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 Also the Visa Type is very important. As of now, ICT doesnt lead to Permanent Settlement. tier-2 sponsorship has got changes, but not sure if they have removed the choice of settlement for Tier-2 Visas as of now. If he can secure contract paying 350 GBP per day and if he can secure contract for 200 days in an year, then the Gross earnings will be 70k GBP. Take out 15% out of it for Income Tax, Accountant fees etc, (Limited Company), then net will be around 60k GBP. Take out 2500 * 12 = 30,000 for living expenses. The Net saving will be 30k GBP which will really make a difference.
Krish Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 worstandhra....unkl...pls elaborate the comparison between 60k full time vs £350/day contracting....one experienced unkl told me.....if he had to choose between two..he would opt FT.....then he gave me some weird calculations and concluded...both are same.....citing peace of mind with FT job..

worstandhra Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 worstandhra....unkl...pls elaborate the comparison between 60k full time vs £350/day contracting....one experienced unkl told me.....if he had to chose between two..he would opt FT.....then he gave me some weird calculations and concluded...both are same.....citing peace of mind with FT job.. Full Time advantages: Long Term job scope, improvement of Skill Set, pay rent as mortgage if you buy a home plus children will attend one particular school and they settle there, 24 Holidays + sick leaves (minimum 8-10 in all jobs I worked)....25 years you will own a house worth 4-5 Crore INR Full Time Disadvantages: You will never be satisfied with the pay. You crave for more especially when you go to a Supermarket and suddenly face a ugly looking South Indian (I too AM !!!, no discrimination here) saying that he is contracting since his birth and earning with both the hands and not finding time to look his own children. You will feel jealous and you will get ready for missing your children as well. Contract Disadvantages: No guranteed term even though they say 6 months++, nothing is guaranteed. Right from submitting the CV, attending interviews to getting the feedback, its all very painful. Even scheduled interview will be cancelled. Plus most of the contracts are owned by Indian based companies like TCS, Infy, Wipro, CapGemini(Indian), CGI Logica (again Indian) and they talk very unprofessionally (this I feel as I have been working in the UK since last 8 years so lost the feel of Indian HR treatment). With no. of people for contracting (especially South Indians) increasing day by day and the number of contracts available not scaling up to that level, the rates are plummeting to as low as 250 GBP per day for a 10 year exp. Java professional. You should have something like Java8, Scala, Ruby, NoSQL, Hadoop etc to get the competition over and get 400-500. Contract Advantages: Money, Money, Money. Claim everything that you can as business expenses including tissue rolls. With 350k per day and 200 days in an year, you will save a minimum of 35k Per annum
worstandhra Posted August 8, 2015 Report Posted August 8, 2015 so the difference is 15k between ft and contracting... DEPENDS........................... If you cant secure 200 days then you will be putting a BIG hole....in your pockets. Its like a Hotel business, if you can sell all the food that you cooked, then you hit a Jackpot. If not, you will loose the money invested in food cooking also
