There was never consensus on awarding special status. even until 2012, Haryana was crying on special status to Himachal and Uttarakhand.

 

Punjab mentions it as the number 1 reason for slowing of manufacturing growth in its state.

 

ap reorg bill and the drama is okay. but cut to the present, I don't think it is the bill or Niti Ayog that is stopping BJP from considering special status to AP.

GST is supported by most states actually.. but the argument from center is that they are giving that GST share about 60% back to states.. not sure about details.. thats what i understood from last budget.. 

 

If it was supported by most states, it would've been passed long ago. Since its not a political issue, people don't speak about it much.

add another maharashtra style octroi or entry tax, the inflation will become unbearable for a while. That is how GST will add 3-4% to the GDP. Not by actually being productive.

Nobody from AP asked what they want.. AP MPs are easy going and want be good boys infront of sonia gandhi and high command. Even TDP MPs dont want to talk anything because of chandra babu rendu kalla principle.

I think if venkayya naidu did not propose a special status at the time of division, nobody would have thought about it.
