athletics Posted August 19, 2015 Report Posted August 19, 2015 Please keep off personal abuses and is not politically motivated, a healthy debate is welcome Off late there is a huge debate over Osmania General Hospital since KCR announced that he wants to reconsruct a modern hosipital on that site. First let us visit the local history, Hyderabad had been ruled by muslim rulers for 400 years and they built many strutures in and around that are enmarked as hertitage structures (first 200 years were ruled by Qutib shahis and the next 200 years by Nizams). Qutub Shahis and Nizam's are not part of same dynasty, Mughals defeated Qutub shahis and placed Nizams at the helm that's how Nizam happened. Most of the famous monuments like Charminar, Golkonda and Qutub Shahi Tombs were built during Qutub Shahi times. Those heritage monuments are built to showcase their pride and mostly built for themselves or their anscestors or lovers/wifes/muses etc. Next comes Nizam, To begin they are also build huge palaces which exist as start hotels or guest houses namely. Chowmahalla Palace Purani Haveli King Kothi Palace Hyderabad House, New Delhi. Mahboob Mansion Falaknuma Palace Bella Vista Hill Fort Palace Chiran Palace Saifabad Palace Khilwath Palace But there are many structures built by Nizam with sole aim of public utlity namely(these structres serve the intended purpose till today) High Court Osmania General, Nilofer Hosipital, NIIMS Purana phool Secunderabad, Nampally and Kachiguda Railway stations Osmania univeristy Salarjung Musem Nizam College City College Asfia Library Jamia Nizmia etc and many such structures which are enmarked as heritage. To me, heritage preservation is an essential part of any city that values itself however I think our heritage legislation is pretty weak and the range of tools available to help achieve meaningful heritage preservation is pretty thin. Please post your view points on the following? 1) Should structures serving as public utlity fall under stringent heritage rules and if yes, should they pave way for a new structure once they reach their life time? My thoughts are mid way, the hospital was built 100 years ago keeping in mind of then demographics and it should be allowed renovation on the inside however they wish to modify; also remove any heritage restrictions allowing not to contruct any other structure taller than it in the premises. If they have to fell it; atleast preserve the articteture by building a structure on that lines than a souless concrete structure.

Please dont make this another kcr topic...just saying could be with any other city, in the generic sense your take on heritage

The city is already congested. My take is they should concentrate around building bike tracks and trails around ORR before it gets too late. They should also build grounds around ORR. As far as kala bharati, the building looks amazing on paper still now sure where it should be

I sincerely request to goback to history of more than 400 years please....see the names you listed...in a country where majority are Hindu. can't you find atleast one structure of hindu name? what happened to there structures before 400 years, are there no structures built ?? or are they have been demolished? OK. if you go Tamilnadu..you will see all temple towns. why? what happened in Hyd? so the thing is...read Bhagavatham & find how Kaliyugam is started..& then note down the year...& start from Parikshit....till Modi/KCR.....see how many people ruled & what happened to cultures...structures.....everything..... & then read what you have posted again...I bet you will definetely realize everything..
