posaanisam Posted August 19, 2015 Author Report Posted August 19, 2015 The police are preparing to conduct camps in colleges on several uses of ‘4th Lion’, an app developed by the police department for rendering various services to the people. In a statement here on Friday, commissioner of police AB Venkateswara Rao said the app was becoming increasing popular. Already, over 7,000 downloads were done. ‘Track my service’ was the most sought-after service for which 366 requests were made. As many as 87 suggestions, 66 SOS calls and 33 alerts were made to the police on crime committed in the presence of app users. Though there were some prank calls, most of the requests were genuine and as the app became more popular, the number of prank calls would come down, the police commissioner said. He said the police had not only been sensitised but also were trained to handle the requests that come to them through the app and that the police would not find the requests a burden. The CP said that after receiving the requests, the police were sending SMS and email alerts to app users on the action taken. Until such time the police get used to attending to the requests from the app, he himself would monitor their functioning, he added
