Chandrababu Naidu about TDP party successor

Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu seems to have turned philosophical on leading the party, in the wake of enthusiasm displayed by his brother-in-law Balakrishna to take over the reins of the party.

“I cannot say who will succeed me as the party president. It is for the people to decide. Whoever they think can lead the party and give a good governance, they will elect him,” he said, when asked to comment whether there is any race for succession in the party. “In Telugu Desam Party, individuals do not matter. Party is supreme and it will take decisions according to the peope’s wishes,” he said.

Asked whether his son Lokesh Naidu is keen on entering politics, the TDP president said it was for Lokesh himself to decide what career he should opt for. “I have absolutely no say in grooming his future,” he said.

To a question, Naidu said he was not interested in speculating whether there would be mid-term elections to the state assembly. “At present, my entire focus is on highlighting the people’s problems and fighting for their solutions,” he said.
