When Ranga's brother Vangaveeti Radha Krishna was killed by Communists, Vangaveeti Ranga took over the charge of his brother's legacy. He became more popular in his own community He became a demi-god to the Kapu (Naidus) community. He was an Indian National Congress politician. During his entire political career he had to go through many up and downs. It so happened that people of whole Andhra use to take his name and threaten and do business after his death.

He was murdered by group of people who came in Ayyapa Mala costume. After his death, Vijayawada turned very violent. This incident turned city to be under curfew for 40 days.
