bussuboy Posted August 25, 2015 Report Posted August 25, 2015 Ok, lets debate on why Kumble, Dravid and Sachin cannot be termed as Humble. For this, lets get the meaning of "Humble". below is the dictionary meaning of humble. "having or showing a modest or low estimate of one's own importance." So, in short being down to earth or no feeling of I am thurm, thoop etc... If the above being the criteria og being Humble.....then Kumble, Dravid & Sachin fit the bill or not? hehe.. laxman may be humble. Not others. They just know how to put on the act of being humble. cultural trait of south asians. Sangakkara, along with mahela and the srilankan team were the best at gamesmanship in Asia. Remember how they denied sehwag a century by purposefully bowling wide. None of them can be classified as decent. Aravinda De Silva, the greatest srilankan batsman is both humble and decent.

I just find it funny to call someone who analyzes, talks about himself/his game with some kind of clarity, as 'humble'. 'humble' people are oblivious to their awesomeness. forced humbleness doesn't count. would you call singer Balasubramaniam as 'Humble'? he comes on that paadutha teeyaga and lectures for hours on the greatness of others, glorifies his profession, and gives that smug bow when someone repays him with tributes to himself. Kumble, Dravid & Sachin are not as conceited as SPB, but they are not humble too. Esp. Sachin cannot be humble when he revels in the adulation of millions, and encourages them to indulge in it by talking in politically correct terms all the time. btw, I'm a huge Sachin Fan, but only of his batting.
bussuboy Posted August 25, 2015 Report Posted August 25, 2015 Then, its Hard to find HUMBLE cricketers. So, who can be closest to being a "HUMBLE" in world Cricket? Yeah i too was a die hard fan os sachinu...pretty much swtiched th tv off for sometine when he was out...that was kurrathanam :) I just find it funny to call someone who analyzes, talks about himself/his game with some kind of clarity, as 'humble'. I think I'll classify any cricketer who doesn't describe his game the way commentators or cricket writers describe it, as being 'humble', because atleast he's not spending a lot of time listening and actually believing the shyte others spout about him. If the cricketer sucks at english, he'll have more of a chance at being humble.
bussuboy Posted August 25, 2015 Report Posted August 25, 2015 For the circketer who is Low in English, he will be shy or unable to express himslef, will normally keep quiet in front of media or other english speaking dudes....he might be a "Pretend Humble" as we dont know his real nature. He might boast with his team mates in person, giving them gyaan in non-english. So, lets agree on "modern Cricketers cannot be humble". See, the world will be so easy if people discuss and then agree on things/views and move on,like us. Now, I am not being "Humble"....hehehehe yeah modern cricketers cannot be humble.
