Bengaluru: Mayor Post Is Up For Grabs For Rs 2 Crore

For as little - or as much as - Rs 2-3 crores, you could be the new Mayor of Bengaluru. At least that’s the buzz in the city, where corporators are lining up outside the offices of the newest powers that be, indicating that nothing has changed in the civic body.

 

New faces, new names, but very old games indeed. “We do not know the exact amount which will change hands. Considering the past experience, we can safely say that this time, the one who wants to become mayor has to pay a ‘loyalty fee’ of Rs two crore to three crore to one leader and his group,” a senior leader said.

 

Fees vary for a standing committee chairman’s post and whether the corporator wants to be stay for a year or for the full term. Moneybags rule!!
