KCR Unspools his Charm for Investors at WEF

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao called upon the business world to come to Telangana State to invest. “I welcome the business world to come to India, invest in India and invest in Telangana and let us grow together,” Rao said while participating in a debate on ‘Emerging Markets at Cross Roads’ on the first day in World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting of the New Champions-2015 in Dalian in China on Wednesday.

During the debate, Rao acted as an ambassador for Telangana, spoke in a lucid style and expounded ideas like a deft economist.

Rao replied in simple and straight manner when the moderator elicited views of the five participants in the debate on topics like Chinese economy, structural reforms, finances and on the volatile world economy.

“Ups and downs are normally seen and observed. What I believe is that the way China pursued growth shows the way. 30 years ago there was a different China. Today, the world sees a developed China. One should learn from China. What’s not to learn from China? We can learn everything from China,” Rao said.

On the volatile international economy, Rao said: “We strongly believe that we (India) will grow and the trend is in our favour. We are the biggest oil importer and oil prices have come down now. We are happy for that and we will certainly make use of the situation and continue to grow further. This is our advantage.”

WE ARE NOT AT A CROSSROADS: On the core point of the debate ‘Emerging Markets at A Crossroads’, Rao averred that: “India is not at a cross road.

May be economies of other countries are at a cross road. I can certainly say that definitely India is not at cross roads. The government is on the path of reforms. We are moving with great speed. India is saving a lot of money on oil imports. We have scope to create more infrastructure for the poor people and India is marching towards inclusive growth.

We give utmost priority for the inclusive growth of the society and country and we believe in that. Structural changes will not take place when poor remain poor and rich become richer. We should maintain equilibrium taking care of the poor and maintaining the dignity of poor.”

TWO-BEDROOM FLATS: Rao also informed the audience that the TS started a two-bedroom house scheme for the vulnerable and disadvantaged community. “We are spending a lot of money on providing drinking water and creating infrastructure in the city of Hyderabad and have a good industrial policy in place. I appeal to the world business community that India is a fairly good place for investment. I welcome all business world to come to India in general and particularly to Hyderabad and Telangana where we have a huge land bank to allot for industries,” Rao said.
