Good question- you can actually file an extension with a change in conditions  which is essentially an extension and amendment request.   This will allow you to change the job site and request 3 years.

 

Just so you know, the other way of filing an extension is an extension with no change in conditions

Yes, If it is amendment with extension you can file prior to more than 6 months as well.
