use this System.out.println(value.length()) inside if condition ;

 

You have to get null pointer exception .. if not then we are assuming wrong.

this is just to make sure you are not printing "null" string.

searchText + "/" + tags + "/" + category + "/" + workflowStatus + "/" +  sortBy + "/" +   sortType + "/" +  maxResults + "/" + pageIndex

 

Since these are null...they get added as "null" string. so length is 4.

I mean your searchText became as - Crisp/<tags>/0/null/null/null

 

when you split they came back as "null" string with length 4... so if condition will not catch this as null value.

While adding strings itself, check for null values and add empty strings instead of nulls

When you split check for empty string insured of null values in if condition
