in case ...

 

lets say..ur OPT or STEM extension is expiring somewhere from April 1st to September 30th period of any year....

 

and you have filed your H1 application by April 1st / H1 deadline.....

 

then even if ur OPT /STEM expires in the above mention period, you can work until September 30th (unless ur H1 is denied)

 

that period of work without OPT/H1 is known as CapGap....which automatically kicks in on ur Sevis...if u have applied for the H1 within stipulated time..
