I think its more or less even now. with TN at a disadvantage because of lack of natural resources, especially water. Still I don't think AP/KA/TG can beat TN in the next 20 yrs. Not in GDP, but even in per capita income.
lazybugger Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 I think even Bangalore cannot beat Chennai in the next 20 yrs. Even after that much hype.

Chennai is not like Mumbai/Delhi. It was never the power center of India. Until the 1930s, Madras was separately administered, and had its own army. alaane saaginte entha baavundo. foreign automobile majors raaka mundhe, TVS was having JV with them, and a number of component suppliers around chennai made it easier for them. what did AP do when Cong in center from 2004-14?
lazybugger Posted September 23, 2015 Report Posted September 23, 2015 but agreed, the british experience gave Tamilians and some Telugus more class, and they were better in implementing administrative reforms in the state before others did. the advantage is huge, but only as part of governance culture. Madras always was an outsider in India. Even during the British times.

But until 1991, TN, along with the rest of south India was a mess. It just had, like you said, brahmins at influential positions throwing breadcrumbs at TN. nothing more. Today its not that.
