ya india velli return vachetappudu  neeku elago h1 stamping untadi and that stamping has date and linked to i797 i94 number, andulo elago valid i94 untadi so  POE lo new date with new i94 number online lo update chestaru appudu,   idi update ayyaka  i94 in online and i94 on i797  veru veru ga untay so  make sure you give online i94 number when you traveled, if old i94 expire ayyaka  usa lone undi (india travel lekunda) h1 extend ayindanuko  use ur  i94 which is on I797 ( new one - extension one ) doc

TS and other i94 expired guys,  please follow perugu_vada  statements,  100% correct,  you don't need to fill any forms or travel,  visa extension lo i797 pina unde i94 valid ayithe chalu, next time travel chesinappudu POE lo appudu online lo update chestadu, until that use your i94 which is on i797 doc, forget about online i94 number if you did not travel,   i797 okate undi  i mean suppose if u r on first H1 3 years  first you get one i797 with i94 number  then after 1 yr u traveled to india n at POE u get new i94 number ( this will be changed and not same as on ur i797) with visa validity expiration date, then  say you haven't traveled for rest 2 years of ur h1 time then ur online i94 time expires and anyway you got ur h1 extension and gets new i797 with new i94 and that i94 is going to be ur new one and this won't be updated in online i94 till u travel next time.

online lo update kavalsina avasaram ledu vayya, if ur current online i94 expired and  you have valid extended h1 visa doc i797 then it should have i94 number  and use that everywhere.  next time travel chesinappudu POE lo kotha i94 number vastadi,   Travel chesinappude u will get new online i94, just usa lone unte online di update kadu and it won't be any issue, valid i797 unte chalu ade nee i94

visa next year varaku vundhi...but passport renewal cheyyincha last yr...

you will get online I94. your stay is legal till the date on I94 not the date on Visa.

Sometimes you will get I94 with date less than Visa stamped date, you are allowed to stay only till I94 date not Visa date although visa has later expiry date (this can happen in scenarios like your PP getting expired prior visa expiry date or some thufel pee O yee Officer)

 

 

Extension:

 

If ext approved, you will get new 797 with I94. You are legal to stay till I94 date. Now, your old or online I94 is not considered and you will not get New Online I94. so, keep this hardcopy safe and secure.

 

Some cases you will get extension but no I94 or no extended stay on I94, you have to go out of country before that and re enter. if Pee O yee apicer kind enough you might get a new I94 with extended date or else Bisket. So, better to go for stamping and return.

 

Some times you can get an extended I94 from DIS, but it is very very rare... present trend is they are not extending the stay.

Just spoke to my lawyer. If your h1b i797 form has i94 at the left bottom then ur i94 expiration date is set to ur h1b expiration date. The dhs website will get the i94 information from the port of entry so it won't have the latest date if you have applied for extension after you re entered US.
