As the week-long holiday, National Day Golden Week, drew to a close, a new checkpoint on a highway leading to Beijing caused what may be the worst traffic jam of all time. 

 

Several hundred million people returning home from the weekend suddenly became clogged at a new checkpoint, bringing the 50 lane highway to a complete standstill.

 

 

 

Reports suggest that an unbelievable 750 million people, half of China's total population, went on holiday during Golden Week.
