with etrade you can trade free for 60 days. later you can change to you choice(scott trade, zecco...). plus etrade's iphone app is fabulous.

If u are getting started with the share then go for name brands....but not penny stocks....
u have to have lot of experience in share market to predict the raise and falls for penny stocks.....
as u can't do daily trading (only who invest more than 25k can do this) by the time u buy and sell it will take around a week....with penny stocks any thing can happen in that time frame...so better u go for named brands.....
and once you build your portfolio u can diversify u r investments into penny stocks and what ever other things...mama....
