Akhilesh Hails Water Grid Scheme

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday hailed the Telangana government’s ambitious water grid project as a model for the entire country.

Speaking to reporters after the TS Panchayat Raj Minister K.T. Rama Rao called on him at Lucknow to brief him about the project, Mr. Yadav said the water grid to provide drinking water to every household in Telangana was praiseworthy.

Mr. Rama Rao told the UP Chief Minister that the project was the brainchild of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who as the MLA of Siddipet, had planned a similar scheme 18 years ago.

The Panchayat Raj Minister informed Mr. Yadav that the Telangana government had sought financial assistance from HUDCO and NABARD. The UP Chief Minister asked the Telangana government to train their engineers to take up similar project.

Later, Mr. Rama Rao also met Samajwadi Party supreme Mulayam Singh Yadav.
