my man. :) I was waiting if anybody would say fight club as their favourite. According to me there is a huge distinctive line between fight club and rest of all the movies I've seen till date. Seriously no other movie has made my adrenaline actually rush through every muscle tissue in my body during the whole runtime of the movie. I was in huge depression the first time I finished watching it, not because the adrenaline flow has stopped, but because of the thought of acceptance of the fact that I have seen the best in my life already and nothing else ever reaches even its peripherals for a very long time(hoping that something might come up to it). I sometimes feel lonely thinking I am still the only one to admire the movie to such an extent. you are the first one on my side. Everyday is a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy and you made my day, today. Thanks bro.

hmm..... i don't understand how can you say "u made my day" just because someone shares your view. besides there are so many people who liked it. to me, its a real good movie except i don't understand how brad pitt got killed when edward norton fired a bullet into his cheek? the same should have happened to brad pitt right? enlighten me.

same question and same answer..the answer needs so much of insight into the movie and the novel...the novel explains it more...

Q)At the end of Fight Club, when Edward Norton shoots himself in the mouth, how does it kill Tyler Durden and not Edward?

A)Tyler was all in Edward's head, and Tyler was a separate part of Edward's mind. When Edward shot himself, only HE knew that the gun was not angled at his own brain. The Tyler part of his brain did NOT KNOW that the gun was angled at his cheek. Therefore, the Tyler part of his brain "knew" that it was dead, and subsequently died.

i said that because I had a fucked up boring day. anyway, coming to your question, by the time he realizes that there is another personality controlling him at times, it(brad pitt) has completely overtaken his brain leaving him no choice but eradicate it all by himself. for this he requires a strong will power, a will power so strong that he should be able to face the ultimate fear, death. So he shoots himself in the cheek, may be a little closer to the brain, to make sure that he doesn't die and the impact of that shot brings out the real identity, thus effacing the hallucination. brad pitt getting his head holed is a symbolism shown for his control getting wiped off, yet his memories remain unaltered I think.

nope. the analysis I brought up might be wrong. but that was what I inferred from the movie. if what you said was what the writer intended to convey, then i have a  question. was he controlling both his personalities at a time when he shoots? *curious, not critical*.

if he is able to control both the personalities, then there is no need to shoot right? i think he realizes his disease and found an instant cure.... am i right maverick?

he was not in control of both the personalities...master blaster is right...if hes in control theres no point in shooting and killing the other personality....he tries to overcome the domination of other personality and in the process he shoots tyler....at that point his mind is in his control not the other personality......
