jpismahatma Posted October 25, 2015 Report Posted October 25, 2015 Adnan Sami and his beautiful wife Roya are looking forward to a quick and smooth Indian citizenship for the maverick musician. Magically enough the singer-musician who has sung some of the biggest Bollywood hits in the past decade including the heartfelt Qawwalli Bhar de jholi in Bajrangi Bhaijaan which reduced the very macho Salman Khan to a sobbing bundle of emotions, has always felt he belonged to India. Says a source very close to Adnan, “He feels he belongs to this country, its people and its soil. Some people erroneously claim on his behalf that he was born in Pakistan. This is not true. Adnan was born in London. But that’s just a technicality. He could’ve been born in any part of the world. His heart and soul belongs to India.” Recognizing and acknowledging Adnan’s affinity and near-genetical attachment to India the Indian government in all its wisdom has apparently decided to grant him an Indian citizenship for Adnan’s distinguished contribution to the fine arts. Says a source close to Adnan, “First the right to indefinite residency in India and now the impending possibility of an Indian citizenship… Adnan is sleepless with excitement. He has decided to visit his four favourite religious places in different corners of India as soon as his life long dream (of an Indian citizenship) comes true.” Beautifully enough, Bollywood has opened its arms to Adnan and accepted him as a part of the Indian entertainment fraternity. A fellow-singer who wishes to go unnamed for now says, “Isn’t Adnan Indian? We don’t think of him as anything but one of us. Is he from Pakistan? It just goes to show that borders are a state of mind and barbed wires exist only between countries and people when politicians put them up.” Adds a young playful female singer, “ I find Adnan as Indian as the bandh-galla jacket and kolhapure chappals. I can’t remember when he wasn’t part of the Mumbai film industry.” Adnan politely refrained from comment saying he has left his future in the hands of the Indian government. “If I’m not an Indian, I’m nobody,” he said emotionally.
