JANASENA Posted October 27, 2015 Report Posted October 27, 2015 A Hindu majority village in West Bengal’s Birbhum district is not getting permission to celebrate Durga Pooja due to alleged objection from Muslim families, reported Bangla daily Dainik Juga Sankha. According to the report, around 300 Hindu families reside in Birbhum’s Kangla Pahari village. They are not getting permission to hold Durga Pooja from the administration for the last three years as 20 Muslim families have objections. The newspaper reports that for years’ residents of Kangla Pahari used to go to nearby villages to worship during Durga Pooja. Three years back the locals came together to build a Durga temple in the village. A 25 members committee was formed and villagers donated some land for the temple. They built a temporary temple and Durga idol but due to objection the pooja couldn’t start till date. Interestingly, the village has a mosque and the Muslim families worship there regularly. And THIS is happening India, not Bangladesh or Pakistan !
