We don't say a lot of things we are supposed to and in the end are left with a heart full of things to say and no one to say it to. But stories like these also help us evolve, make us into better beings. And these stories make us understand why we must not take any moment for granted. Life is unfair, to say the least but it is what we learn from these experiences that defines us as humans. We came across a story like this on the Facebook page of Humans of Bombay. This is the story ofMehr and Sana, that only Mehr is left behind to narrate. I don’t think I’ll ever get over this but I’m coming to terms with the fact that its alright to not. I just desperately want to find some closure though. I think that’s why I got her face tattooed on me because I thought it would bring me some closure but in reality it did more for me. When I look down at her smiling face, I know that’s how I’m always going to remember her and that she’ll always be there for me. The impact that this girl has on me will always be something I can’t put into words what I do know is that, even in death she has inspired me to be a more honest person. When she was still here and I refused to hold her hand or kiss her in public fearing stigma, she always called me fake. She said I wasn’t being true to myself and if that’s taught me anything, it’s to always be true to yourself. I realized I wasn’t hiding something minor; I was hiding who I actually was. If she was still here and I know I would have paraded her around with pride. Its sad that it took losing her to realize that I was going through life being someone I wasn’t. Sana was one of the strongest people I have had the privilege of knowing, I know that people call other people strong all the time but as unconventional as she was, so was her strength. When people have the ability to feel everything so deeply, they often to choose to run away from it but not Sana, She was unapologetic, true and honest. So, here’s to Sana and living each day as my last with absolute honesty and not apologizing for who I am."
