I hardly buy them finished products. especially never tabs or mobiles. I'll buy them chinese or Indian (very unlikely) versions of US/European products they already have. list will contain things like microcontrollers, some chips, propellors, some local chinese lens company that makes DSLR lens, some lasers, etc., which the local canadian distributor doesn't stock. I know you can order them via alibaba in small numbers, but I'm very familiar with the shenzhen market itself, I travel often, and I want them to make a list of what they want thoughtfully. many hyperactive 12+ yr old kids are into robotics these days. personally, I think it impedes their creativity. But I take care never to judge, like I judge people outside of my family. :giggle:
