I just think govt. shouldn't have to involve itself in picking winners and losers.

plenty of private people who could've or already have opened such incubators in Hyderabad.

then why hyderbad is still not on it's way into another silicon valley?

samsung expect cheyatledu,  oka flipkart vachina chalu kada telugu talent tho  :police:

you do realise, more than half of these startups will blow up soon, right?

the ones that don't have enough customers, the ones that don't make profit for long (like flipkart), nobody knows which way they'll turn when the economy goes bust.

Ofcourse, there's inherent risk in startups, but why should govt. take that risk in a country which sucks at manufacturing? That is not going to improve the local economy by much, really.

private people taking risks, that I can appreciate.

I think I've already talked about this.

The best place for govt. funded (but only by pr0xy) incubator in TG, is a place inside the university of Hyderabad, controlled by the university. I don't know about Osmania univ, but since I've worked with some brilliant people from the Univ of Hyd, I thought it'd be much more suitable.

this sort of, rootless incubators do no one any good.

plus, the time for killer mobile apps are probably over, or close to being over.

do you think entrepreneurs walk into a glassy building, and by the strength of their idea will find an investor? This is not the Silicon Valley. They have to run around different places to looking for funding.

If anything India needs more accelerators, which this place also claims to be. I remember reading that top VCs will be allowed set up their offices inside this campus, and guide the entrepreneurs.

but you probably don't know the open secret in the startup world. Its an ugly fight for control between the entrepreneur and the VC. So why do you think VC has the best interests of the entrepreneur in mind? This is like the govt building the lion's den, asking sheep to walk into it. @3$%

Narsi thatha you do realize that this is an incubator and not some seedfunding VC firm.

All that an incubator does is provide infrastructure and a medium for investors and startups to meet and train in return of certain percentage of companies that register.

Govt here is not investing in companies but providing training, infra, mentorship for early stage startups

I also read that VC firms will be allowed to set up their offices inside.

if its just an incubator, its a bigger waste of space.
