There seems to be little difference between United States of America and Vizag when it comes to zeal in celebrating Halloween’s day. Children and youth in the city are busy buying spooky outfits, costumes and going for make up to look scary.

Many shops have started selling costumes, especially for Halloween with the growing demand. “We deal in themed party costumes for all occasions. However, last year and this year too many have taken interest in celebrating Halloween. Business has really been good for this Halloween, said owner of Party Hunterz, Satya.

“Right from freaky black witch hats to vampire capes and ghost masks, revellers have a variety to choose from,” she added.

Students of JD Institute of Fashion Technology organised several activities on Friday and also made special outfits to celebrate Halloween.

“We celebrate this day for fun. Students are making outfits for themselves.  So, this day provides scope to learn about spooky outfits. There is nothing wrong in celebrating the day as it is a globalised world now. People in USA can celebrate Diwali, Gandhi Jayanti so why can’t we celebrate Halloween,” said Priyanka, a faculty of the institute.

A student, Kavya, who is from USA and is studying fashion designing said, “I don’t feel like I am away from home. I am really happy that in India also people are celebrating this day with fervour.”

This day is celebrated to remember the departed soul in western countries. Many activities like Trick or Treat and costume party are organised to celebrate the day.
