Novak_Djokovic Posted November 8, 2015 Report Posted November 8, 2015 Rs 1 lakh invested in an FD of a Bank @10% interest in 2000 would have fetched Rs 4.2 lakh in 2015 (pre tax). Re 1 lakh invested instead in shares of various banks would have fetched post tax amount (excl dividends) in 2015 as under: ICICI Bank: 12.9 lakhAxis Bank: 70 lakh HDFC: 22 lakh SBI: 12.6 lakh BOB: 24.6 lakh If you can trust a bank and invest your money as FD in that Bank, then, why not instead purchase shares of the same Bank? Moral of the story: Equities on any given day would beat other investment classes if invested over a long term. PS: Rs 1 lakh invested in real estate in 2000 would have fetched Rs 6 lakh in 2015 (avg across cities as per RESIDEX). Rs 1 lakh invested in Gold in 2000 would have fetched Rs 4 lakh in 2015
