BongemKadhu Posted November 10, 2015 Report Posted November 10, 2015 DB peddalara, nenu Nano-Physics lo PhD chesa.....finished this summer and got a job with Intel (full time) the joining date is flexible Dec. 7/Jan. 4! last week my opt got approved and I decided to go and visit family before starting to work! I'm on F-1 and my visa expired long back and I've to go for visa interview. I spoke to my Internation advisor and he told me it's risky to go now as you've finished your graduate school and there is no obligation for you to come back other than to work. So my question is: Is it ok to travel to india on OPT WITHOUT joining the company? what are the chances of getting visa? if i get stuck in india due to my degree (my research is related laser physics and quantum cryptography/computation) how long does it take to clear the background check? have you/your friend ever encountered similar problem? if so, what did you/they do to overcome the situation? I've all the required documents: Offer letter from Intel signature from International officer, transcripts, publications, Recommendation letter from advisor, Research summary statement, statement of purpose My research is kind of sensitive as it has lot of applications in navy/military related defense systems and friends are suggesting not to go! Any advice/shared experience would be highly appreciated! Have a great day everyone!
