So , I've been looking to build a server too , nenu ee config shortlist chesa , u can get these parts individually during the coming Thanksgiving sale and assemble it yourself ..

4) Seagate Constellation CS 3TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ( 3 of these )

 

5) Fractal Design Core 1500 MicroATX Mini Tower Case

 

6) EVGA 400W ATX Power Supply

 

the reason i want to go with Xeon processors instead of a cheaper I3/I5 processor is because they support ECC RAM , support heavy transcoding and are better at running near full capacity. ( this is very important in case of servers )

 

You can also run a Linux VM on this machine if you want a linux server.

 

ee paina server config as it is will cost u arnd 800$ , but its worth it .....

 

I'm telling u out of personal experience don't spend too much on trivial things when u r starting up , U can always upgrade to better stuff as u scale up , 

 

there's this book called " The Lean Startup " just read it before u start with your venture , it'll give u a good perspective of how u should do things ...

 

 

I have a build for a more expensive and powerful server too , but i dont think u'll be needing it at this point
