I feel bad for the women athletes who keep getting told this on a daily basis. I keep expecting more of them to quit, but we keep getting Sharapovas, Serenas, who even defend their pay.

The only way to justify this sort of equal pay is to encourage more and more women to take up the sport.

 

But to think that Serena makes the same money as Djokovic or Federer when she wins a slam is sickening.

 

Ideally, women's tennis should be run like a charity. with the prize money more equally divided among the participants.

 

So while the money pool can remain the same for both men and women, top men athletes should get way more than top female athletes.
