(Express Photo) Trying dehyphenate the acts of terror across the world from religion, actor Aamir Khan on Monday, speaking at the eighth Ramnath Goenka Awards, said, “When you see a person committing violence, the first mistake we make is labeling them Islamic terrorist/Hindu terrorist. This is wrong.” Asked to respond why he doesn’t think it’s right to link terror with Islam when Paris attackers were seen holding the Quran, the actor said, “A person killing with the Quran in his hand might think he is Muslim, but he is not. He’s just a terrorist.” Aamir also spoke about the issue of intolerance in the country and revealed that there was a time when his wife talked about moving out of India. “For the first time, Kiran has spoken about moving out of the country. She fears for her kids,” said Aamir, add by that this was worrying for him. However, on a lighter note the actor maintained that as long as he get to kiss at the shoot, he is not concerned what the Censor board does after that. Click here to read in Hindi Endorsing the move by scientists, writers and filmmakers to return their awards to register their protest against the atmosphere of growing intolerance, he said for creative people it is important to voice what they feel. “A number of creative people — historians, scientists — increasingly had a certain feeling in them, which they felt they need to express. For creative people, one of the ways of expressing their dissatisfaction or their disappointment is to return their awards. I think that’s one way of getting your point across,” he said. When asked whether he endorsed the protests by the people, Aamir said he would as long as it is non-violent as “all individuals have a right to protest and they can protest in any manner that they feel is right as long as they are not taking the law into their hands.”
