Intolerance debate: Snapdeal bears brunt of Aamir Khan's comments

As a reaction, angry Twitterati took to social media, and started uninstalling the Snapdeal app from their mobile phones, saying they will refrain from shopping on the e-commerce platform till the actor is removed as the official brand ambassador.

Aamir Khan has come under fire since Monday evening after he joined the 'intolerance' in India debate, saying that he has been "alarmed" by a number of incidences, and that his wife Kiran Rao had even suggested to leave the country. As a reaction, angry Twitterati took to social media, and started uninstalling the Snapdeal app from their mobile phones, saying they will refrain from shopping on the e-commerce platform till the actor is removed as the official brand ambassador.
"As an individual, as part of this country as a citizen, we read in the papers what is happening, we see it on the news and certainly, I have been alarmed. I can't deny. I have been alarmed by a number of incidents," he said while speaking here at the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards.

"When I chat with Kiran at home, she says 'Should we move out of India?' That's a disastrous and big statement for Kiran to make. She fears for her child. She fears about what the atmosphere around us will be. She feels scared to open the newspapers every day. That does indicate that there is this sense of growing disquiet, there is growing despondency apart from alarm. You feel why this is happening, you feel low. That sense does exist in me," the actor said.
@snapdeal this is my way of protesting for so called intolerance. Aamir Khan Anupam kher Snapdeal uninstalled.

I never used @snapdeal. But I have their app. Since #AamirKhan is trending, I guess it's time to take it out.

Some people even went as far to uninstall the app and then writing a review on Google Play Store, stating Aamir Khan's comments as the reason for their move.
