GROOM, 2 FRIENDS STABBED FOR PEEING NEAR MAN’S CAR

Attack happened at a tea shop in Shivajinagar

Answering nature's call a few feet away from a parked car outside a tea shop near Hamza Hotel in Shivajinagar proved very costly for this bridegroom-to-be and three of his friends, who were all brutally stabbed by an unidentified miscreant claiming to be the owner of the car in the early hours of November 28.

But had it not been for the groom's bravery in pushing the accused away and snatching the button knife from his hand, perhaps none of the victims would have lived to tell the tale.
The college friends, all aged around 27- identified as Pavan, Dileep, Vinod, and Rahul - accompanied by Pavan's driver, finished attending a wedding reception on Friday night and went to a friend's place on West of Chord Road.
Around 4.45 am, they left Rajajinagar and headed towards Savera tea stall opposite Hamza Hotel on Broadway Road to have a few cups of early morning chai.
As they reached the stall and parked around 5.40 am, they noticed a black-coloured Alto parked nearby, with one person sitting inside. When Pavan went to an open area behind the tea stall to relieve himself, the man in the car reportedly began screaming, asking how he could urinate right next to the car, though he (Pavan) was several feet away.
"Within seconds, the driver's friend came out of the hotel and towards us. He slapped Rahul, and that's when it all started. As we rushed to his aid, the man pulled out a button knife and stabbed Rahul in his neck and chest. Another miscreant appeared and began pushing us down, but the man in the car didn't budge. The suspect then stabbed Dileep in his back and thighs, before slashing Vinod's stomach from end to end," Pavan told Mirror.
The accused then moved towards Pavan, but the latter proved too quick for him; he pushed the armed miscreant and managed to grab the knife from his hand. In the melee, Pavan's right hand was slashed, and the miscreant kicked Pavan.
"As soon as I wrenched the knife from his hand, he grabbed my throat and pulled the gold chain with a dollar that I was wearing. He then kicked me and I fell over backwards. By the time I got up, he'd fled in the car with his friends. Parts of the incident have been captured on CCTV cameras on Broadway Road, and two of the accused's faces are visible. My friends were all rushed to Vittal Mallya hospital, where Rahul and Vinod are still in critical condition in the ICU. My wedding is in a few days, and I am still unable to come to terms with the incident," Pavan added. When contacted, the East division police confirmed the incident.

Of the victims, Pavan owns a city-based educational institution, while Rahul owns a textile business. Vinod got through his UPSC prelims in August and is due to write his mains on December 13; and Dileep is an MCA graduate.
