In a bid to aid the drought-hit farmers of Maharashtra, a vada pav seller in Mumbai has donated Rs 20,000 to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

CM Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday praised the gesture of vada pav seller Mangesh Ahiwale. In a series of tweets, Fadnavis revealed that Mangesh had  announced that he will donate his complete earnings from October 11 for drought farmers.

On Wednesday, Mangesh handed over a cheque of Rs 20,000 to the Chief Minister.

Battling drought in nearly 16,000 villages across the state, Maharashtra government sought a package of Rs 4,002 crores in November from centre for the state.

Earlier, the chief minister Fadnavis had asked people to come forward to help farmers.

Evidently Mangesh was one of the few who heard that message.
