How To Effectively Criticize Islam?

Stephen Fry does it rather well here, but its against the catholic church.

He starts off by saying : "I have no quarrel, no argument, and I wish to express no contempt for individual devout pious members of that church"

 

Obviously, he is speaking in front of a receptive crowd, and such crowds can be hard to find among muslims. And apologists make it hard for any kind of criticism to be directed at Islam.

 

This is why, such criticism will be more effective if it comes from a muslim, than an outsider, away from the gaze of the western world.

 

As much as I enjoy Christopher Hitchens epic putdowns of enthusiastic muslims, such arrogance is only going to turn well meaning muslims away from a middle ground.

 

Turkey, and to an extent, Iran can be the flagbearers of such a discourse. I hope they do.

 

Its hard for a muslim in India to speak out like this, without being owned up by the RSS, by which time he'll lose all credibility among the muslim population of India.

the intolerants I am talking of here are people with an opinion that demonizes other people, and that include people who call themselves liberals.

 

Its very easy for such views to become mainstream if a tiny fraction of people keep shouting about it every day.
