Pm Narendra Modi Releases Rs 125 Coin

In the memory of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, two commemorative coins of Rs 125 and Rs 10 were released by PM Modi. On the occasion of Mahaparinirvan Divas, he paid rich tributes to India’s founding father, Ambedkar and released the coins.

Commemorative coins are released to commemorate or celebrate an occasion or an event.

In past five years, the government has released many coins and of different figures. Here is the list of coins with highest and rare figures:

The commemorative coin of Rs 1000

In the year 2010, govt. released the commemorative coin of Rs 1000 to celebrate the thousand years of the Brihadeeswara temple. The coin weighed 35 gm and had 80% silver and 20% copper.

The commemorative coin of Rs 150

The coin of Rs 150 was released in the year 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 was released to celebrate 150 years of building India (2010), 150th birth anniversary of Rabindra Nath Tagore (2011), Comptroller and Auditor General of India (2011), 150th anniversary of Motilal Nehru (2012), 150th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda (2013).

The commemorative coin of Rs 125

Similarly, Rs 125 coin was released in the year 2014 and 2015 to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Pandit Nehru. This year the govt.  has commemorated the birth anniversary of Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

The commemorative coin of Rs 100 was released to celebrate 100th anniversary of C. Subramanium (2010), 100th anniversary of Mother Teresa (2010), 21st Commonwealth Games (2010), ICMR: Centenary Year (2011), 100 years of Civil Aviation of India (2011), 150th anniversary of Kuka Movement (2012), Komagata Maru Incident (2014), 100th birth anniversary of Begum Akhtar (2014), 175th birth anniversary of Jamsetji Tata (2014), Centenary of Gandhi’s Return from South Africa (2015), Birth anniversary of Swami Chinmayand (2015), International Yoga Day (2015), 100th birth anniversary of Rani Gaidinliu (2015).

The commemorative coin of Rs 75

In the same manner Rs 75 commemorative coin found its way in the year 2010 to celebrate the platinum jubilee of RBI.

The commemorative coin of Rs 60

The government published the coin of Rs 60 in the year 2012 and 2014  to commemorate 60 years of India government mint of Kolkata (2012), Diamond Jubilee of the Coir Board (2014).
