Tadikonda Lake situated at Tadikonda Village on the suburbs of Guntur City is seemingly the largest inland water body of the newly forming CRDA region of Andhra Pradesh. It also forms an en-route attraction to Nagarjuna University for those traveling from Gorantla and Lam areas in Guntur city.

In the wake of increasing land mafia due to the rapid urbanisation in the region [3][2], GunturMania apprehends potential threat to water bodies such as these. Water bodies in the urban areas fall as first prey to the illegal encroachments. Beyond legal implications, fading of water banks have bitter consequences like just seen through the recent floods in Chennai and Nellore.

Guntur city also boasts natural habitat for international aves as visitors at Uppalapadu Sanctuary. If the environmentalists and regulatory bodies don’t form a proper survey and monitoring procedures over these urban jewels, they always are under robber’s radar.

One solution that GunturMania finds, while seeing through this potential hazard is that the CRDA/GMC can think of building parks with jogging traks and children play areas around these urban jewels. This will add beauty and serve against the encroachments.

After all if we need to build smart city we need to be one.

Another reason to build parks and vast greenery around these areas is to have fresh oxygen reservoirs in the pollution-prone urban jungle under making [2]. Think this while we currently see through the situation at Delhi, the National Capital.
