changure Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 CONGRESS TO INCREASE H-1B FILING FEE BY $4000 and L-1 FILING FEE BY $4500 Earlier today, Congress released a bill to dramatically increase H-1B and L-1 government filing fees. The section regarding H-1B and L-1 fees is only a small part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2016 bill which is required to prevent a Government shutdown. The 2009 page bill will be voted on later this week. The bill is expected to be passed. Below are the key points: The fee increase is applicable only for companies that have more than 50 employees and more than 50 percent of the employees are on H1B or L1 status. The fee increase will be an additional $4000 for H-1B cases and $4500 for L-1 cases. The fee is applicable for all initial filings and extension of stay cases. The fee increase is effective from the enactment of the law until September 30, 2025. Quote
