Mostly because Tamil is more widely spread geographically esp. since it's used in countries like Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia etc. Malayalam enduku undo no idea, I think one of the reasons might be because it's so close to the state of Tamil Nadu where LTTE was quite active a few years ago.
