he Telugu Desam party president, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, on Thursday alleged that the Congress leaders have become anti-social elements by resorting to encroachment of government and private lands, collecting share in irrigation projects, indulging in corrupt activities and irregularities, complicity in illegal mining and liquor mafia in the state.

Mr Naidu said that poverty-stricken parents were being forced to alienate their properties in order to educate their wards as the Congress government was not able to lend a helping hand to the poor. He also charged the government with depriving minimum educational facilities to poor students by failing to release funds for disbursal of scholarships, tuition fee reimbursement and also by not clearing the bills of the agencies that were involved in the implementation of mid-day meal scheme.

The TDP supremo lashed out at the Congress leaders for resorting to corrupt practices at every level and even forcing the government to allow door delivery of liquor. Mr Naidu appealed to the party cadre to educate and awaken the people against the rising prices of essential commodities, hike in bus fares and power tariff, increasing Value Added Tax (VAT) and indiscriminate sale of liquor. He asked the party workers to expose the nefarious activities of the ruling party leaders and bring about an awakening among the masses.
