canny surya Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 The reports that Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar is trying to woo Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy into his party has raised many eyebrows in the political circles.Sources in New Delhi say the reports had emerged from the AICC, which apparently got the intelligence inputs about Pawar-Jagan tie-up. They have confirmed that Pawar has been in regular touch with Jagan, who is understood to have come to the conclusion that there is no way the high command would elevate him to the post of chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. “We have got specific information that Jagan has been exploring possibilities and has been in touch with Pawar,” New Delhi sources, quoting the Congress headquarters said.According to reports, Pawar is planning to build a separate group within the UPA on the lines of the pressure group formed by him, Lalu Prasad and M. Karunanidhi in the past. He is also trying to rope in Mamata Banerjee, who is also upset with the Congress high command. He might attempt to launch a third front after the Assembly polls in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Bengal to try and confront the Congress before the 2014 general election. And if Jagan joins the bandwagon, it would strengthen the team which might emerge as a strong force in the coming days, sources said.
