· ఈ సొరంగ నిర్మాణానికి అనుమతులివ్వవలసిందిగా రాష్ట్రం కేంద్రానికి ప్రతిపాదనలు పంపుతోంది 

First underwater road tunnel in the Country to come up between Vijayawada and Amaravati

A feasibility plan is being drawn up to build a 3 kms. long transparent underwater road tunnel in river Krishna to accommodate vehicular traffic between Vijayawada and Amaravati. Once completed, it will be the first ever underwater road tunnel in the country and will join the exclusive list of 200 such tunnels around the world.

Highlights of the tunnel:

· To double up as a major tourist attraction
· To come up near Ibrahimpatnam on the outskirts of Vijayawada and be linked to the "west side" of the government core area where Assembly, Secretariat and Raj Bhavan would come up in Amaravati
· Motorists using it can see aquatic life since it is transparent
· AP government to approach the Centre seeking approval for the tunnel in the river Krishna
