tennisluvr Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 Post 1990, McGrath is greatest fast bowler... tasted success against all conditions, all batsmen... Records and consistency wise, maybe. But there are far more exciting bowlers than him, he was a bit boring if anything.

tennisluvr Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 intial days lo he was not that successful kada after some time infact long i believe he became good The great thing about teams like Australia and South Africa is that they always have a great bowler in the team who can groom and mentor the younger bowlers. When McGrath came into the team in the mid 90s, Craig McDermott is the leading fast bowler in the world and capable of running through any side on his day. Craig McDermott was a great influence on the young Glenn McGrath and was instrumental in seeing his rise to be the premium fast bowler of his day. Unlike those teams, teams like India have never had a great fast bowler who could perform day in and day out except a few like Srinath and Zaheer Khan. So the younger fast bowlers who come into the team have no one to look upto. Even Zaheer Khan was able to become what he was due to the guidance and mentorship of Srinath. We have no one like that now.
tennisluvr Posted January 15, 2016 Report Posted January 15, 2016 He is consistent with his balls especially on off stump bounce one's His line and length were unerring, very hardly he would ever pitch it up or pitch it short. However, Jason Gillespie was a far more exciting bowler with his variety and ability to pitch the ball up at great pace. Glenn McGrath is mr.consistent when it comes to bowling.
