lazybugger Posted January 19, 2016 Report Posted January 19, 2016 my uncle was a vc for a medical college cum hospital in one of the districts in united AP. he was so ill equipped for the job, when he resigned recently, I met him and found he became even more disillusioned with the dalit movement. a man who I used to admire as a kid, became a whiny uppercaste old man. I felt very very sad. I tried as much as possible to not judge him. perhaps if I lived in India, I'd become one too.

Every group has the right to their dignity and identity. I agree, supporting Islam is kind of idiotic. But they have no other way. The standard dalit politics in India is stuck with playing second fiddle to the dominant castes. They can't use dalit imagery to fight it. So they use muslim groups for support, but they are not loyal to them.
