Yes. Modi won this time. Congress might win next time. Somebody else might win the other time. Is your life changing?

Is the quality of your day to day life getting better or bad because of the party that forms the government? NO.

actually it does get better. Both BJP and Congress have their good points.

India is vastly better now than it was 50yrs ago. Not just economically, but socially too.

your maker needs a better information assimilation algorithm. humans consume information fed to them very differently from robots like you.

an idea can stay in their brain for eternity, until something triggers it.

So perhaps what people post here, may matter. We can't be sure.

Thank you for the reply. There can never be enough information to arrive at the right decision. You can never gather enough information to form an objectively true and correct opinion.

I do not wish to take the pessimist's view, but I find it a total waste of human emotions to fight inside a website.

Exactly. The movement of a society from good to bad, or vice versa happens because of a cumulative effect of all the decisions that have been taken over the course of time and the cumulative effects of all the events that have happened over a course of time.

I really do not want to quote the grossly abused and over-used concept of butterfly effect in the recent times, but I think it applies well to this scenario. A hundred butterfly effects.

It is impossible to pin it down to a certain policy of a certain political party.

there's no such thing as the right decision.

but some information can be useful on some occasions.

I agree its pointless to fight online. just a little bit less pointless than life itself.

Your identity is yours, as long as others also respect that boundary.

You should try telling western colleagues to not refer to you as 'Indian'. Not everybody can.

Indian society is a million times worse.

I do not mean to cut off associations with your nation or religion etc.

But when the opposite person abuses your associations, do not take it upon your blood to defend it.

we are all making our own little sacrifices towards that movement.

haha.. responding to this will mean another long rant that no one wants. especially me.

obviously I disagree with you.

Its perfectly okay to fight back prejudice. Not to suggest that's what I'm doing. I'm just laughing at morons here who think they make good arguments.

P.S I am just trying to have a discussion. No insults made or will be received.

I really don't understand why you brought the BJP matter here. This post was created to discuss about a poor high caste guy who became a doctor inspite of all the economic hurdles he faced, he never gave up and never complained. The intention of the guy was not to defend the manu order, it was merely projecting the importance that is given to an issue or incident that involves a "Dalit". Why do you take so much offense yourself seeing a post made by a brahmin??Talking about the compulsion, the compulsion is not really his, it is the media's, politician's and the so called intellectuals's to play the caste card in this matter. You feel hearing his story of success is crap, the other guy felt the same hearing about the news on Rohit being portrayed as a victim since he was a Dalit. Would the media have given him same importance if he wasn't a Dalit? Do you know Rohit committed suicide because of discrimination. If people want to protest against discrimination, why choose his death as an occasion when his death has nothing to do with discrimination?

"Black Day for Indian Democracy. Shame on judiciary and government for hanging yakub memon". This was posted by Rohit on his fb. So if you look at it, he mentioned "shame on judiciary". Isn't this mocking of Indian constitution?

"What's wrong in burning religious books?". There is nothing wrong in that, but when you don't believe in something, why do you want to provoke and hurt the feelings of others who do? There was even a video in which he was seen that he hates anything that involves hindus.

"Everyone receives help", Are you sure about that and can you really weigh each and say it is equal??

Coming to the discrimination, I do accept there is discrimination in the society but that is changing. If you say you aren't seeing the change, then it is pure hypocrisy.

What happened here is that a student committed suicide and instead of treating it as such, media and the politicians added the word "Dalit" before it and started gaining political mileage. Same kind of incident happened a few days ago where a dalit was attacked by 3 muslims who attacked him and set him on fire. Why isn't same coverage given to this issue?? Why aren't politicians flying down to pune and showing their support??Is the pune guy any lesser dalit than Rohit??

Politicians simply don't want to involve in this matter because of the fear of loosing their muslim vote bank. So the point that I am trying to make here is that people like me are frustrated to see media looking everything in magnifying glass when a guy from lower caste is involved. Let this be treated as an individual case, let there be a sincere investigation and finally lets hope Rohit gets justice if something really happened.

some people can't just shut their stupid mouth.

All this idiotic rant, just to defend the current structure or BJP?

Talking about himself in the third person. haha.. How did this guy become a doctor. Wait, there are already 100s of them that I know, who talk crap like this.

Why do brahmins/upper castes come running out of the woodworks to defend the manu order, when someone burns their books? What is the great complusion. I'd really like to know.

Who mocked the Indian constitution? why is this guy talking out of his ass?

What's wrong in burning religious books? If its wrong, pls tell what's the difference between Islam and Hinduism.

The upper caste doctor lies through his teeth about not receiving any help. Everyone receives help, even dalits do. But dalits face the kind of discrimination that this guy cannot even think of. He should be ashamed of hiimself for talking nonsense like this at this time.

But since he's an uppercaste sympathizer, he's probably feeling proud of spouting the usual lies that'll get him a 1000 likes.

so he made it despite his economic circumstances. good for him. how does it matter that he's uppercaste? if he can bring up his caste, why can't a dalit?

The intention of the guy was not to defend the manu order, it was merely projecting the importance that is given to an issue or incident that involves a "Dalit". Why do you take so much offense yourself seeing a post made by a brahmin??

same as above.

This is why I brought up BJP. Why are people who attack Rohit worried about how media projects this suicide as a failure of the govt.? I mean what is their agenda behind attacking Rohit?

Do you know Rohit committed suicide because of discrimination. If people want to protest against discrimination, why choose his death as an occasion when his death has nothing to do with discrimination?

His suicide is the perfect occasion to fight discrimination. It is the occasion that entire country will watch, and professors who insult dalits openly in classrooms will atleast mend their ways out of fear of attracting the wrong kind of attention.

being against hanging yakub may be because he's against capital punishment. This has nothing to do with support for terrorism, unless he specifically asks for Hindus to be killed enmasse by guys like Yakub.

"What's wrong in burning religious books?". There is nothing wrong in that, but when you don't believe in something, why do you want to provoke and hurt the feelings of others who do? There was even a video in which he was seen that he hates anything that involves hindus.

he hates Hindus because they insult him, and his folk. if he was from a muslim majority village/town, he would have joined the abvp because muslims too insult dalits (for entirely different reasons).

What happened here is that a student committed suicide and instead of treating it as such, media and the politicians added the word "Dalit" before it and started gaining political mileage.

so attack the media, politicians. Why attack the guy?

muslims are equally aggressive towards dalits. but denying dalits right to fight for their identity, just for the sake of pragmatism is cruel.

Politicians simply don't want to involve in this matter because of the fear of loosing their muslim vote bank. seriously man, frustrations of people like 'you' pales in comparison to frustration of people who are actually oppressed. So may be for their sake you can try and digest the frustration for a while.
