Maa friend okadu tried this route and married a Spanish/Mexican girl. She used to spend all his money and enjoy with his income she used to be a nail salon technician before he married her. Vaadu oka 30,000 credit card teesukuni eemeki ichadu mottham max out chesindi. Later he brought a Mercedes Benz that she took control of after adding herself as the second driver, and used to go out partying with her lady friends till late nights on this car. Anyway finally after all this, he got into some legal issues and went back to India now after filing for bankruptcy here. So this is not a good option at all unless you know the girl and trust her enough. In another case, a friend's friend married an ABCD girl here. Although they didn't get into any sort of a legal trouble she's very dominant and dominates him. Vaadiki emi say undadu when it comes to family decisions, he can't either because she knows his sustenance is largely based on her daya karunyam.

It is almost always guaranteed to be a disaster if one marries a US citizen with an intention to get a GC unless it's a genuine relationship. The simple reason is that the US citizen knows that he or she is in a position to decide the fate of the green card holder. One domestic abuse complaint and you are done. I can see the appeal though - getting GC through marriage to a US citizen is the fastest way to citizenship not necessarily the easiest way though. First things first you get a conditional green card for 2 years - the condition being married to a US citizen. After two years the GC holder and his or her spouse needs to apply for Removal of Conditions in which myriad forms of evidence (joint bank statements, joint credit cards, life insurances on each other, joint title on house, car etc.,) should be submitted to the USCIS that the marriage is genuine and not entered into solely for obtaining immigration benefits. As mentioned earlier, there should be no issues if the relationship is authentic. But if the US citizen decides to pull the plug in the intervening 2 year period - it's a whole different ball game altogether. I have a couple of friends who were here in the US for work and started dating US citizens and then got married to them and proceeded to apply for green cards. All of them are living happily now - one has become a citizen and the other holds a 10 year GC. Bottomline is if in the natural process of dating if you happen to meet and marry a USC - that's the best way to immigration. But to decide to marry a US citizen with the intention of getting a green card is always fraught with a lot of unpredictable eventualities.
